Learning English>speak speak speak
One of the biggest problems
that English learners have is actually speaking the English that they do know. Many English learners have good vocabulary and decent grammar, but are still intimidated to speak in English.
The biggest thing I see, is that some schools and teachers still focus on vocabulary and grammar more than anything else. This makes highly educated students who can't communicate.
I always ask my students - If you wanted to be a musician, would you spend 8 years just studying musical notes but never actually touch a musical instrument? It would be a big waste of time and money, wouldn't it?
Learning vocabulary and grammar is very important for good English, but if you never actually speak it, what is the purpose of putting all those years of time, effort, and money into it?
