Idiom of the Day:
“Rain on your parade”

To “rain on someone

’s parade” is to bring someone bad news when they are having a positive moment or feeling. The saying is followed by news that is intended to ground them back into reality.

“I just got a personal high score on this game I’ve been playing!”

“I hate to rain on your parade, but the boss expects you to have that report turned in within the next fifteen minutes.”

“WHAT!?”

@Jomod raining on your wedding day in the US is a bad omen. It means that your marriage will have trouble.

In Saudi dialect, we say: خرّبت جوّه (informal) which means: destroy her/ his moment.
