라가는 길이었어요. 그런데 갑자기 거대한 구렁이가 까치와 까치 새끼들을 잡아먹으려고 하는 것을 보았어요. 까치 가족이 불쌍하다고 느낀 선비는, 활을 쏘아 구렁이를 죽여 까치와 까치 새끼들을 구해주었어요. 그런데 길을 가다 보니 어느새 밤이 깊어 무척 어두워졌어요. 길을 잃어 걱정하던 선비는 때마침 불이 켜져 있는 한 집을 보았어요. 선비는 그 집 문을 두드렸어요. “안녕하세요, 누구 계세요?”

Once upon a time, there lived a smart and goodhearted Seonbi. Seonbi was traveling to Seoul to take the Gwageo, when he noticed a huge python trying to kill and eat up a magpie and her babies. Seonbi felt sorry for the magpie family, so he shot the snake with an arrow and killed it, saving them. But as he continued walking, in no time the night grew late and very dark. Seonbi, lost and worried, saw a house with a light on inside just in time. Seonbi knocked on the door and called out, “Hello? Is anyone here?”
