Continuing with my Thailand theme, I had the opportunity spend

time with elephants that reside in a sanctuary. “Sanctuary” means providing a safe haven and natural habitat, dedicated solely to elephant wellbeing. Elephants are intelligent creatures with complex physical and social needs. The chance to interact with elephants is one of the biggest draws to Thailand. Unfortunately because these majestic giants are such big business, there is a lot of animal abuse to give the tourists what they want: the perfect elephant riding picture. I chose to only interact with elephants that were maintained in an ethical environment. I will always remember my time with them.
