선배님
Sunbaenim

In Korea, the hierarchy in the society does exist

. Where older people or seniority is a real think and you have to treat them with full respect. The word sunbaenim can be use to call someone who is older than you in term of academic, work, age. Such as your manager, or senior at school or university.

But I hate ‘

Sunbaenim is for woman to older man? Or man to older man too? How about Hyungnim?

Perhaps it was the situation that brothers' wives were having conversations with.

@Nomadic So why do they call each other "hyungnim"?
