🇬🇧🇬🇧 English Phrase Time!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧 (C2+ difficulty)
Something Along
Those Lines "I was thinking of getting a new car, but something small like a Fiesta or a Corsa, something along those lines"
"something along these/those lines"is used as an alternative to saying "something like that" and simply means "similar to something else". Both can be used interchangeably but this phrase can be used to sound a little more advanced as well as enriching your vocabulary.
" My brother works in the hospital as a nurse, and I’m hoping to do something along those lines too..."
(My brother works in the hospital as a nurse, and I’m hoping to do something like that too)
Waitress- "and what would you like to drink?"
David- "could I get a Diet Coke or Coke Zero please, something along those lines"
"I really liked the cake we had at your birthday. I want to get something along those lines at my party too"
Now it's your turn using "along those lines" and I'll correct all your mistakes! :)
