“My neck of the woods”
When you tell someone
, “this is my neck of the woods,” you are telling them that this is where you live. It can be a city, a province or prefecture, but especially a local neighborhood. In a way, you are saying this is your home turf and you know this place in great detail. You can show them places of interest that only a local person would know about.
