Phrase of the day “It slipped my mind”

We use this phrase to

say that we forgot something.

It’s used informally, and can be both spoken or written.

Here’s an example:

Tony 🗣 “Did you know it’s Alison’s birthday today?”

Debbie 🗣 “Oh! It totally slipped my mind! I didn’t get her a present or anything”

@ChrisC no pronunciation issues, just work on making it sound a bit smoother, as it sometimes sounds a bit disjointed. To have no pronunciation errors though is a great thing, it means you can now focus on the smaller things that will make you sound more natural. 加油✨✨✨

@MM hey Miki, thanks for the reading. Just be cautious of the “schwa” sound you make after certain consonants (you can hear it on “It slipped-AH my mind”). Once you master removing that sound, you’ll be heading the right direction to perfect your oral English

@Lucky you said “written” as “write-en”, but apart from that it sounded pretty good, good job ✨✨

@Rain the word “mind” sounded a bit off, possibly the “I” sound within the word, practice with the following words: “Kind Mind Skies Blind Buy”

@Tina空山新雨 the words “get her” sounded a bit weird, but I think you can usually pronounce these words perfectly fine separately. Apart from that, it sounded very clear, good job ✨✨✨
