    Just avoid 이상. He is very famous and may be the most important modern Korean poet but his works are very abstract and surrealistic.

    You got it^^ As everyone recommended 윤동주, 백석 are great. But they are quite old (almost 100 years) so you'd better look for more recent ones. Korean language changes quickly far more than English.

    well 윤동주 is most popular to the public and easy simple but beautiful sentences there 백석 and 김소월 contains kinda more korean style and there are latta traditional adjectives and adverbs so may hard to understand! 기형도 is characterestic in poet style and popular to the young generation 안도현 is also simple, warm and pretty easy sentences hope its helpful:)
