“Get your act together”
If someone says this
to you, you are being bad and in trouble. “Getting your act together” is said to tell you that you need to “snap out of it,” or to regain responsibility over your actions. Perhaps you were neglecting going to work, overspending your money on useless things, or acting inappropriately in a social setting. Parents will often tell this to mischievous children. “Steve blew all of his paycheck at the casino. He better get his act together, or his wife is going to leave him.”
