This lesson is going to be on the confusing words “bring”, “take

”, “fetch” and “carry”.

“Bring” is used when moving something from a distant place/person to a nearer place/person.

Examples:
- Please bring me that bottle of water.
- The student brings her notebooks to class with her every day.

“Take” is used when moving something away from a person/place.

Examples:
- If you don’t take this food away from me, I will eat it all.
- Take the dog outside to go to the bathroom.

(An easy way to remember this is you bring something towards a person, and you take something away from a person.)

“Carry” is used when moving something from one place to another.

Examples:
- Can you carry my purse to my car?
- My mom carried my cat outside.

“Fetch” is used when talking about a two-way trip. When you fetch something, you begin and end in the same location.

Examples:
- The dog fetches the ball.
(The dog gets the ball and brings it back to where he started.)
- Fetch the TV remote for me.

@made in Colombia Can you bring me a spoon I want you to take that chair out of my view here are some other examples for “carry” that might make more sense. - Carry the cat from the house to the car. (We use carry when bringing something from one location to another. In this case, from the house to the car.) - I carry the fruit from the kitchen into the living room. When a dog fetches a ball for his owner, he first starts at his owner, runs to get the ball, and brings it back to his owner. (We use fetch when beginning and ending in the same place, so in this case the dog begins and ends at his owner.) - My brother fetched me something to eat. (My brother was near me, then he went to get the food for me, and then he brought it back to me. My brother began and ended his journey next to me.)

@Nina your sentence is correct, but it sounds more natural to say “Can you please carry my shoes outside?”

Thanks for sharing such as great lessons. Maybe you noticed that almost all the words have a preposition,, it's mean will be changed if the preposition comes. For example,, take care, Take up, take down, take it easy, Could you explain sometimes about such as combination? 1. With your learning everyone would bring himself at the good level of English. 2. I will take you home from the train station. 3. I am going to fetch some medicine from the pharmacy. 4. If you carry a negative thought in your mind you won't be able to solve your the problems.

I’ve taught lessons on some of these so you should be able to find them on my page. I will continue to teach lessons about them in the future! 1.
