Idiom of the Day:

“Screwed up”

This phrase is so commonplace

in the US that I didn’t honestly think about it being an idiom. If you “screwed up,” this means that you made a mistake or an error. If you made an a egregious error, we would say, “I screwed up big time” or “I really screwed up this time.” If someone calls you a “screw up,” they are saying in a somewhat insulting way that you always make mistakes.

“I screwed up making a cake by baking it for too long, and I ended up burning it.”

My wife asked me to do the shopping for her this time. Admittedly, I screwed up!!! I almost forgot half of the things she asked me for. She was fire hopping mad at me. Is it correct, Mr. Scott? Thank you in advance! 🌹☺️

@ilham sanfour any sorts of errors or goof ups. We will also say, “I messed up” which is the same meaning.

@Richard Um yes this is correct. And you are pronouncing it well. Asians in particular have a hard time with “r” sounds, but yours seems natural.

Thank you very much sir !! That's really true I sometimes pause for few seconds while having a real conversation in English because I always focus on what people are thinking of me and that makes me very nervous and self conscious I hope that I overcome this problem in the future I'm really happy and I really appreciate that you listened to me reading. 😊😁 Many thanks!
