📝 Talking About Losing Weight 🇬🇧
So many people speak about dieting
on this app, yet many people use the incorrect expressions. Firstly, we do not need to use the possessive:
-He's lost weight.👍
-I've lost weight.👍
-I've lost my weight. ❌
The same applies when we talk about the opposite: I'm gaining weight; I've put on weight (not 'my' weight).
Secondly, we do not say 'loose/loosing' (that means 느슨하게); we say 'lose/losing':
-She's trying to lose weight.👍
-She's on a diet. She's losing weight.👍
-She's loosing weight. ❌
If you put on too much weight, you may need to 'loosen' your belt!
Maybe you could remember it like this:
"I keep trying to lose weight, but it keeps finding me!" 🙊
PS. Most of the ladies and gentlemen I see talking about dieting here on HelloTalk... You look absolutely fine as you are. 😊
PPS. There are only about 20 calories in a tomato, and about 3 calories in a cherry tomato. Compare that with an avocado, which may have 300-350 calories.
PPPS. Obviously, try not to use the word 'delicious' too much in your food posts (😖cringe!😖)
