The life of Michael - Part 8.

My grandmother started to have a drinking problem, I have a memory of her crying trying to leave our house. My mother blocked her from leaving, I was sat on the stairs wondering what on earth is going on. She was shouting "I want to jump of a bridge" it was all very strange, because it had never happened before. After I was out the bandages mother treated us to our first holiday abroad in Majorca, I was 13 and ran straight into the sea! Mother was sunbathing, I remember one moment I could see her then the next I couldn't, the sea had dragged me to the side... I was drowning. But this elderly Spanish man gently lifted me up, carried me and laid me down on the sand. I said thank you, because at the time I didn't know how to say gracias. I owe him my life and will never forget what he did, he was a hero.
