To be “run of the mill

,” you are explaining something that is ordinary, generic, basic, or common. What comes to mind you think of aspirin? Furniture? Plants?

So, if we were to talk about cookies, a run of the mill cookie would be a chocolate chip cookie. It is not incredible like a red velvet cake cookie. It is not bland like a Pizzelle. You could say chocolate chip cookies are the standard or the average.
