So you really want to improve your listening in English or another
language? Here is an intensive method you can use to improve quickly. Don’t do it for more than 20-30 minutes at a time without taking a break.Intensive listening practice
-Find a some sources of audio where the exact words that are spoken are available. For example some podcasts and Ted talks have accurate transcripts. Movie subtitles are not accurate enough, they usually have a lot of mistakes or changes.
-Use a short portion of audio (a couple minutes or less, especially in the beginning) at a time and try to listen and write the words that you hear exactly correctly. Make an effort to do it as accurately as possible.
-Check what you’ve written against the transcript. Then repeat the process by listening again and writing every word. Repeat until you can hear them all.
-If it has been less than 20 minutes, try another short piece of audio.
Please share any links you find to podcasts or Ted talks with transcripts. I’ll also try posting some more moments along with the written version.
Good luck!
