Idiom of the Day
“Jaywalking”
“Jaywalking” is when you cross
the street, but you do it at a place where there is no crosswalk. In Colorado, you could be fined $15-$100. In New York City, fines can be as high as $250. In all honesty, jaywalking is not enforced in the US except in crowded cities. In many cases, it is not practical to use a crosswalk. The nearest one could be 100m or farther still. Most Americans just take the risk hoping they do not get hit by a car, but can be quite dangerous on busy streets.
