“Like pulling teeth”

Anytime you have a challenging

task to do that requires tremendous effort, we will say that “it is like pulling teeth.” In most cases, you would use this expression when another person is involved. Getting my children to clean their room is like pulling teeth. Getting a politician to give a straightforward answer is like pulling teeth. Getting a wealthy person to pay taxes is like pulling teeth. This expression shows great reluctance and resistance to doing the task at hand.
