またゆきあそびのじかんがやってきました! - Time to play in the snow again! 😎❄
My
first ski outing of the season was yesterday. After getting fresh snow the night before, all the vegetation got a nice white coat. It was below freezing (-5°C), so the snow was good to ski on as well. I got my cross country skis out and took a drive for about 20 minutes to get to the park. The trail is just a mostly narrow path following a brook that is frozen in the winter. The good thing is a lot of it is sheltered from the sun, so the snow cover is quite good. There is not much snow around here yet and the sun burns it away where it is exposed. You have to share the trail with other users, so it is not a nice ski track like you would find in a dedicated cross country ski area, but at least there is no charge. 😄
I went to this same spot last year to start the season and I remember feeling quite exhausted. This time it seemed almost effortless, maybe thanks to the leg training I got this summer with my numerous hiking trips. That makes me feel good. I plan on doing lots more cross country skiing, since downhill skiing is a bit of a question at the moment because of the pandemic. ⛄
