@Riccardo That is what the pizzerias in Guadalajara calls them... Other parts of the world are creating new versions... It is nothing to do with me... I only eat not create...

@SA It’s not just about ingredients but also about its appearance. This kind of pie will never become pizza but could be called by /quiche/wähe, even pirogge. Pizza is flat.

@Elena In this big world... Many people create new ideas from traditional things... They call this a Deep Dish pizza... That is logical... Even if it is not flat...

@SA Because they know just the word pizza. If they name the dish this way it doesn’t mean that it’s the correct term. But I am not against creativity. It looks delicious anyway.

@Elena I believe the creators know what they are doing... They also sell flat traditional pizzas as well... I only eat and not create... So I will leave it to the creators to call it what they like....

Deep Dish pizza or Chicago-style pizza - Invented in Chicago, USA by Italian immigrants in the early 20th century. I believe that these creators knew how to make a true traditional Italian style flat pizza... 😋😋😋👍🏽

As a new yorker I can not allow you to set the narrative astray. This is not pizza. This is soup.

My nonna cooked pizza Margherita as thick as this, I will never know why but I liked it at the end 😊 I think that we should still appreciate the Mexican cuisine instead of focusing on "who stole the term pizza".

@Stefania Thank you Stefania... I did a little resesrch and I discovered that it was invented in Chicago USA around 1924 by Italian immigrants... So it is not a Mexican creation... ☺️☺️☺️

@Niver It was invented by Italian immigrants in Chicago... It is a Chicago Style pizza... It tasted delicious with a lot more topping than a traditional pizza...

@Riccardo Obviously it is not a traditional pizza... But since it was invented by Italian immigrants who owned a few pizzerias in Chicago... I am pretty sure they knew what it is... ☺️☺️☺️

@Ruben Do a wikipedia search for Chicago-style pizza... All the facts are there... I did not invent the name I only ordered it and ate it...

@SA That's fantastic 🤩 My nonna didn't migrate in America, she was Sicilian and stayed in Italy for all entire life. Thank you for telling me, it's so nice to discover how traditions can travel through people and land in another part of the world.

@Stefania Thank you for sharing your story Stefania... There are plenty of examples of migrants in foreign countries who would reinvent dishes from the original and traditional... Not only the Italians but also the migrants from other countries... Whether they are right to do so or not is debatable but what they all have in common is their need to adapt to their new countries... And in doing so, they have to make many changes to their traditions...

@SA Yes, I understand. They are able to merge certain cultural features together. It's something fascinating, even after years or centuries that happened.

@Stefania That is why I enjoy tasting reinvented traditional dishes from all the places I visit... For example Chinese cuisine in Rome and in Mexico City... The taste is very different to the original from Canton in China... And Italian food in Asia and in the USA... Always the traditional dishes have been adapted to the general tastes of the adopted country or even reinvented...

@Stefania There is so much to learn and so much to understand about these migrants by just tasting their adapted version compared to the traditional... But now, due to the accessibility for people able to travel and to taste the original, many restaurants in Australia, for example, have kept strictly to the traditional way... Which is also great and important to do so...

@SA Yes, I understand. It's pretty difficult sometimes to keep a balance between traditional and modern. A challenge that modern wins most of the time. As we all know, unfortunately in some way, change is inevitable... 😊
