Meaning: A lot of pain/discomfort
Example (1): “Six weeks ago my mother had a ruptured appendix and was in agony. It was hard to watch. However, now she’s fully back to health and managed to come home just before the coronavirus outbreak spread here in England.”
Example (2): “We all have very different levels of pain that we can take, for some it may feel like agony and for others simply mild discomfort.”
