On this app, many English learners say, "Don't just say hi/hello

/how are you?... it's sooo boring!"
It may be frustrating. But, please try to understand other cultures... that is just the natural greeting for us. It's just a polite introduction. 😊
It is difficult to speak with strangers, so please appreciate kind people. If you continue the conversation, that girl/guy may be your best friend, one day ♡
-Of course, I'm not talking about the crazy scammers, and bad people here 😭
-I think I'm too nice for this app, haha 😂

Are you hurt? As a Chinese native speaker, I totally understand how frasfrated it would be when people ask me "how are you?" But I get used to it now.🤣

@huiju If someone sends me a simple Chinese or Korean greeting, I just appreciate that they took the time for me 😊

    你说的很有道理,交好朋友开始是最难的,可能不知道如何更好的交谈,从而错失朋友。

I think is not about the cultures, English speakers also say " don't just say hi". Because it will get tired if the conversations always are endless small talks. the key word is 'just'. I do reply to "hi" actually but I hope people don't just ask something i already wrote in my profile.

For me even for many of us, If a stranger doesn’t say hi and wait for our response, but ask us many questions or help directly. It seems like they knock our doors and open it right away. How’s weird and impolite.

@珊 Ellen ゆかり I just see how many people say, "Don't say hello to me, it's boring." So I wasn't sure if they knew it was rude to criticize other cultures' greeting styles.☺ Anyway, to answer your question, I answer a lot of my messages. But if I check the profiles and see too much slang/gym photos/etc, I often don't (because I guess they are using the app just for social media/dating).👍

Yes, you’re so nice. But did you reply to all of people who only give you a greeting? 😳 Sorry, because you’re an English speaker, I can’t believe that. Haha. Initially, I replied to all of people who sent messages to me, included only a “Hi!” I tried to chat with them, but I found most of this kind of people who don’t have much thoughts, and it’s difficult to keep a good conversation with. Plus, it’s not helpful for us to learn languages if you always practice basic sentences with different people. I don’t have much time to interact with many people, so I have to choose people to chat with. Learning languages is a long road, keep a long time friendship can let us to help each other easily and we will chat deeper, and also learn more new words. I believe that, “How deep we know each other, how many words we will use for a conversation.” For excluding some people, I always rewrote my introduction. It’s my method to interact with people here.

Well, it just takes time to get used to the way people greet each other and get a hang of how to get pass that and carry on the conversations . I bet you must feel weird everytime people ask you if you have had breakfast/lunch/dinner, yet that is one of the most common first question chinese would ask
